Remote Stream

Friday sees Shekiera Martinez celebrating her 24th birthday, and it's incredible to think about what she's achieved in the Barclays Women's Super League with West Ham United women's team, having only started her time with the Hammers in January.

The WSL’s Rising Star of 2024/25, who spent the first half of the season on loan at SC Freiburg, bagged ten goals in 12 league matches, finishing the term joint third in the top-scoring charts.

Our No19 was rewarded for her goals and performances by becoming the first Hammer to win a WSL Player of the Month award - which she clinched in March and April - before being crowned West Ham United women’s team’s Young Hammer of the Year.

One of her standout performances came away at Crystal Palace on a memorable afternoon for both the 23-year-old and the Irons, as Rehanne Skinner’s side ran out 7-1 winners to chalk up the Club’s biggest-ever victory in the WSL.

Martinez was unplayable, netting on four occasions - including a blistering first-half hat-trick - on a sunny afternoon at the VBS Community Stadium.

You can watch her four-goal haul against the Eagles, as well as her other strikes in England’s top flight, by hitting play on the video player above!
