West Ham United women’s team left-back Inès Belloumou has been named in Algeria’s squad for their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification fixtures against Cameroon.
During the October international break, the two sides will face off over two legs in the second round of qualification for the 2026 edition of the competition. In the first round of qualification, Belloumou helped Algeria secure an emphatic 8-0 aggregate success over South Sudan.
The first leg will take place at Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran, Algeria, on Thursday 23 October at 7pm BST ahead of the reverse fixture on Tuesday 28 October, in Douala, Cameroon, at 2.30pm GMT.
A former France U23 international, Belloumou switched her international allegiance to Algeria midway through last season and subsequently represented Les Fennecs (The Fennec Foxes) at her first-ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in the summer.
The 24-year-old helped Algeria progress out of Group B without conceding a goal, and their run of clean sheets continued in the quarter-finals with a goalless draw against Ghana. But agonizingly, our No7’s side were knocked out of the competition on penalties.
Following loan spells at Lazio and Malmö FF last term, Belloumou returned to east London in the summer and has since made four appearances across all competitions this season.
