Yu Endo and Riko Ueki

Internationals | Endo and Ueki called up by Japan

West Ham United women’s team duo Yu Endo and Riko Ueki have been called up to Japan’s squad for their double-header of friendlies against Canada during the November international break.

This is Endo’s first call-up since signing for the Hammers in August from WE League side Urawa Reds, for whom she made 171 appearances.

The full-back, who has enjoyed a positive start to life in Claret and Blue, making ten appearances across all competitions, was last called up by her country in the summer for the EAFF E-1 Football Championship in South Korea, which they won for a third time.

Meanwhile, Ueki, who contributed two assists for the east Londoners in our 3-1 Barclays Women’s Super League victory over Everton on Sunday, was called up by Japan in October for friendly fixtures against Italy and Norway.

Our No9, who signed a contract extension in September and has started every WSL fixture so far this term, has 41 senior international caps to her name.

Japan and Canada will first meet at Peace Stadium in Nagasaki on Saturday 29 November, with kick-off at 6.30am GMT, before facing off for a second time at Transcosmos Stadium, also in Nagasaki, on Tuesday 2 December (kick-off time TBC).
