West Ham United women’s team goalkeeper Kinga Szemik has been called up to Poland’s squad for their upcoming international friendlies.
The Hammers shot-stopper, who has featured in eight of our nine Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures this season, will cap off a memorable year with her country during the November international window, one that has seen her play for Poland at their first-ever major tournament.
The 28-year-old played every minute in between the sticks for Poland at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 in Switzerland in the summer, helping her side to their first major tournament victory with a 3-2 success over Denmark in Group C.
On Friday 28 November, Poland will take on Slovenia at Polsat Plus Arena in Gdańsk in a 4.45pm GMT kick-off. They will then bring the curtain down on 2025 against Latvia on Tuesday 2 December at 12.30pm GMT.
Meanwhile, Hammers defender Verena Hanshaw has been called up to Austria’s squad for their final two fixtures of the year.
The 31-year-old and her side will be buoyed by their recent success in the UEFA Women’s Nations League, as they survived relegation from League A with a dramatic two-legged victory over Czechia in October.
First up, Hanshaw will face fellow east Londoners Oona Siren and Eva Nyström at Estadio Municipal Antonio Gallardo in Cadiz, Spain, when Austria take on Finland on Thursday 27 November, with kick-off at 6pm GMT.
They will then play Ukraine on Monday 1 December, with the game kicking off at 11am GMT.
