West Ham United women’s team goalkeeper Kinga Szemik kept a clean sheet for Poland in their final match before UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 on Friday night, as her side ran out 4-0 winners against visiting Ukraine in a frienldy at Stadion MOSiR, Mielec.
The shot-stopper, who earlier in June received the call-up to Poland’s squad for this summer’s Euros in Switzerland, again played another 90 minutes for her country, keeping her seventh clean sheet in her last nine international matches.
Klaudia Jedlińska’s slotted finish under the legs of Daryna Bondarchuk got Poland up and running on 18 minutes before Paulina Tomasiak’s deflected strike doubled their advantage just after the hour mark.
Poland then struck twice in second-half stoppage time, first through Kayla Adamek’s sweeping effort ahead of a glancing header from Milena Kokosz.
Nina Patalon’s side get their Women’s Euro 2025 campaign started against Germany on Friday 4 July (kick-off 8pm BST).
Meanwhile, Dagný Brynjarsdóttir, who is also off to Women’s Euro 2025, came on as a second-half substitute in Iceland’s 3-1 dispatching of hosting Serbia in their friendly on Friday night at Stadium FSS, Stara Pazova.
Our No10, set to represent her country at her fourth European Championships next month, replaced Hildur Antonsdóttir on the hour with her side 3-1 to the good.
Early goals from Sandra Jessen and Karolina Vilhjalmsdottir put Iceland in the driving seat after only five minutes played before Sveindis Jonsdottir notched their third on 57. Miljana Ivanovic then netted a consolation for Serbia.
Iceland will get Women’s Euro 2025 underway against Eva Nyström and Oona Siren’s Finland on Wednesday 2 July at 5pm BST.
