Manuela Paví

Internationals | Paví features for Colombia in opening Copa América Femenina clash

West Ham United women’s team winger Manuela Paví played all 90 minutes of Colombia’s opening Copa América Femenina Group B clash, which saw them play out a goalless draw against Venezuela at Estadio Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda.

Our No11 could have opened the scoring in Quito, Ecuador, had Yenifer Giménez not intercepted Linda Caicedo’s cut-back before the ball reached her inside the penalty area.

But it was Venezuela who came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half when Daniuska Rodríguez crashed the crossbar with a venomous strike from range.

Chances were at a premium for both sides in the second period, with Colombia unfortunate not to clinch all three points when Wendy Bonilla sent a header from close range flying over the bar.

Colombia will look to build on the point when they face Paraguay at Estadio Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda on Sunday 20 July (kick-off 1am BST), who were victorious in their opening match courtesy of a 4-0 success over Bolivia.

Next up, Camila Sáez and Chile will hope to make it back-to-back victories in the tenth edition of the competition when they take on Argentina in Group A on Saturday 19 July (1am BST).
