Emma Snerle - Denamark

World Cup Bound: Emma Snerle

West Ham United Women will have six players at this summer’s 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup! The tournament, which is being held across Australia and New Zealand, is now just one more sleep away from beginning.

Ahead of the action getting underway, we will spotlight every Hammer who will be in action throughout the competition. Our final player is Emma Snerle...

Snerle has 23 caps for Denmark and will be heading to her first ever World Cup! The 22-year-old contributed two goals in qualifying for the competition, finding the back of the net against Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Injuries over the past year has meant that her gametime at both international and Club level has been restricted, but the midfielder will be hoping to have an impact on the world stage in Denmark's first World Cup in 16 years.

Snerle joined West Ham United in January 2022, signing from Fortuna Hjørring in her native Denmark.

Whilst adapting to life in England and the intensity of the Barclays Women's Super League, Snerle scored her first Hammers goal against Reading. However, the midfielder sustained an injury towards the end of the 2021/22 campaign and was out of competitive action for nearly five months.

After a brief return against Aston Villa in October 2022, Emma would again face a spell on the treatment table, although she quickly made her comeback against Manchester City in January 2023.

From there, the young midfielder showed her qualities in Claret and Blue, finding the back of the net against Manchester City and also against Tottenham Hotspur in a 2-2 draw at Chigwell Construction Stadium on the final day of the season.

In total, Snerle has featured 28 times for West Ham and has scored three goals.

Denmark have been placed in Group D and will face China in Perth on Saturday 22 July in their opening match on the tournament.

They will then take on England on Friday 28 July at Allianz Stadium in Sydney before rounding off the group stage with a clash against Haiti in Perth on Tuesday 1 August.

Matches will be available to watch in the UK across the BBC and ITV.
