West Ham United women’s team v Brighton & Hove Albion
Subway® Women's League Cup Group C, Chigwell Construction Stadium, Wednesday 8 October 2025, 7pm BST
West Ham United women’s team will resume our Subway® Women's League Cup campaign on Wednesday night when Brighton & Hove Albion visit Chigwell Construction Stadium.
The fixture in east London will see the two teams who won their opening Group C matches go head to head, after the Hammers eased past Charlton Athletic, while the Seagulls defeated Portsmouth.
Rehanne Skinner’s side were on fire in front of goal at The Valley, putting five past our opponents, including wonder goals from Manuela Paví and Leila Wandeler in the second half.
Only the top team in the group will progress to the quarter-finals of the competition, so both sides will be vying to pick up three points in Dagenham after their winning starts last month. If the two teams cannot be separated after 90 minutes, the game will go to a penalty shootout and the winner of the shootout will receive an extra point.

Opposition...
Like the Hammers, Brighton were also victorious in their opening Subway® Women's League Cup Group C fixture.
Early goals from Carla Camacho and Marisa Olislagers secured a 2-0 win at Portsmouth in September, leaving Brighton second in the early standings.
Last term, the Seagulls soared to the top of their group, beating Birmingham City and Bristol City, and claiming a win on penalties over Leicester City after a goalless draw, but were knocked out in the quarter-finals after a 4-0 defeat at home to Arsenal in January.
In the top flight this season, Brighton have won two of their opening five matches, but most recently fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Tottenham Hotspur.
The south coast club recorded eight league victories on their way to achieving their highest-ever WSL finish last season, as Dario Vidošić’s side ended the campaign fifth in the standings, scoring a club record number of goals in a WSL season (35) in the process.
During the summer, 13 players departed Brighton, including last season’s joint top-scorer Nikita Parris and defender Poppy Pattinson, who both signed for divisional rivals London City Lionesses.
Topping the bill of the eight arrivals was the loan of Arsenal’s Michelle Agyemang for the second successive season. The 19-year-old enjoyed a stellar summer with England, playing a starring role in their UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 triumph as she scored crucial late goals against Sweden and Italy to help them to the showpiece against Spain.
Another arrival to the south coast was goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who also shone on the international stage over the summer, helping Nigeria clinch their tenth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.
Brighton also signed defenders Moeka Minami, Maelys Mpome and Manuela Vanegas Catano, midfielder Fuka Tsunoda and forwards Carla Camacho and Rosa Kafaji.
Previous Meetings…
The two teams only last met on Sunday 21 September at Broadfield Stadium, when the Seagulls ran out 4-1 winners in the Barclays WSL.
When the sides last faced off at Chigwell Construction Stadium, Skinner’s side were emphatic 3-1 winners after goals from Shekiera Martinez, Riko Ueki and Viviane Asseyi. But at the AMEX last November, Brighton edged to a 3-2 victory, with Fran Kirby scoring the winner after a Katrina Gorry brace brought the Hammers back on level terms.
Of the 20 meetings between the sides, the Seagulls have won eleven, whilst the Hammers have won six.
