West Ham United women’s team duo Eva Nyström and Oona Siren have been named in Finland’s squad for their upcoming UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 campaign.
Midfielder Siren joined the Club last summer and went on to become a mainstay in Rehanne Skinner’s side, while Nyström signed in January after her departure from Hammarby IF and made eight appearances across all competitions in Claret and Blue.
The pair will now jet off to Switzerland to help their country at this summer’s Euros, which commences on Wednesday 2 July and will conclude in Basel on Sunday 27 July.
Finland have been placed in Group A, and they will raise the curtain at Stockhorn Arena, Thun, against Iceland (Wednesday 2 July, kick-off 5pm BST) in the opening game of the tournament, before travelling to Sion to face Norway (Sunday 6 July, 5pm BST) at Stade Tourbillon and then hosts Switzerland (Thursday 10 July, 8pm BST) at Stade de Genève, Lancy.
Both players were integral to Finland’s qualification for the tournament. After finishing at the foot of the qualification Group A1 table, which also featured Italy, Netherlands and Norway, Finland faced Montenegro in the first round of play-offs.
Centre-back Nyström registered a third-minute assist to tee up Linda Sällström, whose goal secured Finland a 1-0 away victory in the first leg, which was followed up with a resounding 5-0 success in the second, with both Hammers representatives starting both matches.
Then, in their crunch play-off with Scotland in November, Siren helped Finland keep a clean sheet in a goalless first leg before first-half goals from Natalia Kuikka and Nea Lehtola booked Finland’s spot at the Euros in the second.
Everyone at West Ham United would like to congratulate Eva and Oona on their call-ups and wish them every success at this summer’s Euros.
