Nuno Espírito Santo says The Foundry is the place where West Ham United can make a hugely positive impact on the community he now calls home.

The men’s Head Coach has long been a champion of those who need support to make the most of their lives, most notably when he donated funds to the Wolverhampton Wanderers Foundation's 'Feed Our Pack' project, which aimed to combat food poverty in the city, during his time at Molineux.

On Tuesday, Nuno was in Beckton, at the heart of the London Borough of Newham, as the newly-developed Foundation headquarters was officially opened. The Foundry will significantly increase the Club’s community footprint, enabling West Ham to reach more than 60,000 people each year via 35 dedicated programmes catering for all ages and backgrounds.

For someone who cares deeply about people of all backgrounds, seeing a facility that will service the most diverse borough in London left him feeling proud to be a Hammer.

“It’s a good chance to give back to the community all that we can,” Nuno told West Ham TV. “I think always that we can do more, so I’m really honoured to be here. I recently joined the Club and being invited to this event makes me really proud.

“It’s huge. It means a lot to the people that don’t have it all that they can to do sports and be together as a group. This place has allowed this, so I look forward to coming here again and to help.

“It is a place where, as I say, you can pursue your dreams, chase your dreams.

“In my career, in my life, I always try to support. We always have time for this kind of thing and I’m really proud, I’m really proud and I’m honoured to be part of a Club with these values to try to help the community because it’s one of the things that I really believe that we should be all together, no matter where you come from, so I’m glad and happy to be here.”
