Rob Jones has been confirmed as the referee for West Ham United's Premier League home clash with Newcastle United this weekend.
Promoted to the EFL list at the start of the 2016/17 season, Jones took charge of his first top-flight fixture in December 2019, and was promoted to Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) Select Group One ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Jones takes the whistle for a game involving West Ham for the tenth time, having refereed our 2025/26 Premier League opener away to Sunderland in August. He also took charge of our 2-0 win away at Crystal Palace in August 2024, before a 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion in December.
The 38-year-old Merseysider has been the man in the middle at three finals during his career so far, the last of which was Wycombe Wanderers’ victory over Oxford United in the EFL League One Play-Off final in July 2020. He previously refereed Rotherham United's win over Shrewsbury Town in the 2018 League One Play-Off final, and Grimsby Town's triumph over Forest Green Rovers in the 2016 National League Play-Off final.
Most recently, he oversaw HNK Rijeka’s UEFA Conference League league-stage victory over Sparta Prague on Friday 24 October.
Neil Davies and Nick Greenhalgh will serve as the assistant referees at London Stadium.
The duo regularly officiate matches alongside Jones, and have duly served with him in multiple top-flight clashes so far this season, most recently Sunderland’s 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on 18 October.
Davies has run the line in the Premier League on 194 occasions, with his last West Ham fixture being the 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in September. In total he has assisted at 22 Irons games.
Greenhalgh, meanwhile, was promoted to PGMOL Select Group One ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, and has worked as an assistant close to 100 times in the Premier League. He assisted Jones in the aforementioned Sunderland curtain-raiser, while his last appointment was for Arsenal's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday 26 October.
Peter Bankes will be the fourth official in east London.
The 43-year-old has been part of PGMOL's Select Group One since the 2019/20 campaign, three seasons after being promoted to Select Group Two. He most recently took charge of a West Ham game when we drew 1-1 at Aston Villa in the Premier League, in January 2025.
Video Assistant Referee responsibilities will be overseen by Paul Howard, who has held the same role in six Premier League matches this season. He will be assisted by Lee Betts.
