West Ham United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been selected in the DR Congo squad for his country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup CAF second round qualifiers.
DR Congo face Cameroon at the Al Barid Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, in a semi-final on Thursday 13 November, with the winner facing Nigeria or Gabon in the final, which will take place at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat on Sunday 16 November.
The nation who triumphs in the final will enter the six-team inter-confederation play-offs, where they will potentially take on seventh-place South American qualification finishers Bolivia, Oceania third-round qualification runners-up New Caledonia or representatives from AFC (Asia) and CONCACAF (North, Central American and Caribbean) in March 2026.
Wan-Bissaka debuted for DR Congo in a 4-1 qualification Group B win in South Sudan in September, having switched his international allegiance from England to the country of his parents’ birth.
He subsequently started qualifiers against Senegal, Togo and Sudan as DR Congo finished second in Group B to reach the second-round qualifiers and now has four senior caps.
