Manuela Pavi

Internationals | Paví features in Colombia draw, Sáez's Chile defeat Catalonia

West Ham United women’s team attacker Manuela Paví featured for the full 90 minutes as Colombia played out a 1-1 friendly draw with South Korea in Yongin.

Just three days after Paví’s side ran out 1-0 winners against the same opponents at Incheon Namdong Asiad Rugby Field, on Friday, Colombia got off to the worst possible start, falling behind inside two minutes when Jeong Min-Young opened the scoring.

Though South Korea clung on to their advantage at the break, after 63 minutes Kim Jin-Hee inadvertently turned the ball into her own net from close range to restore parity for the visitors.

Both sides pushed for a winner until the final whistle was blown, to no avail, while the hotly-contested clash finished with eight players having received yellow cards.

Paví returns to action for Las Chicas Superpoderosas at the Copa América Femenina in Ecuador next month, where Colombia have been drawn in Group B alongside Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay and Venezuela.

Camila Saez Chile

Meanwhile, Camila Sáez was among the substitutes for Chile in their 3-2 victory over Catalonia on Sunday.

Sáez’s side raced into a three-goal lead inside the opening 50 minutes, courtesy of strikes from Karen Araya, Sonya Keefe and Rosario Balmaceda.

Catalonia did pull two back in the second period through RCD Espanyol’s Judit Pablos’ brace, but it could not dampen Chile’s spirits as they lifted the 125th Anniversary of Catalonia Trophy.

Sáez, like her colleague Paví, will now shift her attention to the Copa América, that starts in July. Chile have been drawn in Group A with Argentina, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay.
