Inès Belloumou’s Algeria picked up a 1-0 victory against the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Sunday evening, as preparations for their 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations campaign continued.
The 24-year-old left-back was a substitute for the friendly in which Lina Boussaha’s 30th-minute goal proved to be enough to secure the win for Algeria.
Algeria will face Senegal on Tuesday 1 July (kick-off 8pm BST) in their last match ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. The tournament, hosted in Morocco, gets underway on Saturday 5 July.
Meanwhile, Jessie Stapleton, closing in on 20 international caps, played another 90 minutes for the Republic of Ireland on Sunday night. However, her side conceded four unanswered goals away to the USA at TQL Stadium, Ohio.
Goals from Lynn Biyendolo and Izzy Rodriguez gave Emma Hayes’ side the upper hand at the break and they wrapped up the contest through Yazmeen Ryan and Alyssa Thompson’s second-half strikes.
The two sides previously met in another friendly on Friday, in which Stapleton, who was crowned the Republic of Ireland’s Young Women's International Player of the Year, completed another 90 minutes.
