Ffion Morgan was just seven years old when she knew she wanted to play for Wales, and that budding seven-year-old would be incredibly proud of what she has gone on to achieve in her career so far.
The Llandeilo-born attacker first represented her country at U15 level, before playing in the U16, U18 and U19 age groups, captaining the latter. Her senior debut came as a teenager in 2017 against Northern Ireland.
Morgan's club career began at Bristol City's academy, and she went on to enjoy a fruitful few seasons as a first-team player for the Robins, but that came three years later.
After leaving the academy in 2018, Morgan joined Cardiff City for a short spell ahead of signing for then Barclays Women’s Super League 2 side Coventry United.
Following a season at the Midlands-based outfit, the 25-year-old joined Coventry's divisional rivals Crystal Palace in the summer of 2020, where she made 20 appearances across all competitions, helping the Eagles to a seventh-place finish.
Also in 2020/21, Bristol City were relegated to the second tier, and called on Morgan’s services to inspire them back to the WSL.
After finishing third with Bristol City in her first season, Morgan helped the Robins secure the WSL 2 title in 2022/23, scoring five goals in 20 league appearances as her side pipped Birmingham City to top spot by a point.
The Wales international subsequently featured in every league clash in her maiden WSL campaign, but Bristol City were relegated.
Last term, after a sixth-place finish in WSL 2 with six goals and four assists, Morgan won Bristol City’s Supporters’ Player of the Year and departed the club after making 89 appearances, scoring 15 goals.
2024/25 will also live long in Morgan’s memory because of the history she made with her country.
In December 2024, Wales qualified for their first-ever major tournament - UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 - following a play-off success over the Republic of Ireland. Morgan started the first leg and came on in the second as her team secured a 3-2 aggregate success.
At the tournament in Switzerland, 46-times-capped Morgan featured in all three of Wales’ Group D fixtures, starting twice, as they faced the Netherlands, France and England.
And now, she has taken the next step in her career, signing for West Ham United.
