Women's Loan Watch | Walsh scores and Dowsett keeps clean sheet in emphatic Watford win

West Ham United women’s team loanees Soraya Walsh and Rebekah Dowsett helped Watford secure a resounding 7-0 success against Charlton Athletic’s Professional Game Academy (PGA) side in the FA Women's National League Cup on Wednesday night.

Midfielder Walsh joined the Hornets on a season-long loan on Monday, whilst shot-stopper Dowsett returned to her former club on an Academy Development Registration deal at the end of July.

Dowsett started in between the sticks as Walsh was named on the bench, and Watford cruised to a three-goal advantage before the 19-year-old was introduced to proceedings on the hour.

The Hornets soon found a fourth before Walsh got in on the act just ten minutes into her debut, finishing from close range after neat build-up play from Maya Kendell and Freda Ayisi.

There was still time for the hosts to net another two goals in their opening game of the competition, to take them to the summit of the embryonic Group J standings.

The Hammers duo will hope to build on their successes when Watford host Plymouth in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division on Sunday 24 August at 3pm at Grosvenor Vale in Ruislip.
