West Ham United Women capture Belgium international Amber Tysiak

West Ham United Women are delighted to confirm the signing of Belgium international Amber Tysiak

The defender joins the Irons from Oud-Heverlee Leuven in her native Belgium, having played for them since April 2020, and will wear the No5 shirt in Claret and Blue.

The 22-year-old spent her formative years with KRC Genk and becomes Paul Konchesky's first signing of the January transfer window.

"I’m very excited to sign for West Ham United," Tysiak told whufc.com. "This is a beautiful Club with a rich history and I’m very happy to be here.

"I’ve been doing my research and I know West Ham is a historical, hard-working side that has always had players who work tirelessly for the badge.

"I’ve watched the team play a few times and I can see a group of players who work well together, and fight for the cause together. They always give 100 per cent in every game and I’m looking forward to being a part of that."

Konchesky is pleased to bring Tysiak to West Ham United, with the defender first catching his eye during her efforts for Belgium during the 2022 UEFA European Women's Football Championship.

"Everyone at West Ham United is delighted that Amber has joined the team," Konchesky said. "Amber is a composed centre-back, who plays with a maturity beyond her years, and has shown her quality at the highest level for both club and country.

"We're thrilled to add another talented, young player to our squad at West Ham in Amber and I'm looking forward to working with her for the rest of the season and beyond."

Born in Houthalen-Helchteren, Tysiak began playing football at five-years-old and initially started her journey with the boys at KFC Helson.

Her development caught the attention of KRC Genk, in the Belgian Super League, where the young defender spent four years developing her craft. A transfer to OH Leuven followed in April 2020.

Tysiak's efforts have helped OH Leuven finish second in the table last season, and leaves with the club top of the standings, having won 12 of their 13 league matches so far this season.

At international level, Tysiak made her debut for Belgium in February 2021, playing in a defeat to the Netherlands. Since then, she has earned 20 caps for the national side, and even scored a hat-trick in November 2021 when she netted three goals in a record 19-0 record win against Armenia in 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying.

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Amber to the Club and wish her well during her time in Claret and Blue.
