Martinez wins PFA WSL Fans’ Player of the Month award for April

West Ham United women’s team forward Shekiera Martinez has been crowned the PFA WSL Fans’ Player of the Month for April.

Beating Brighton & Hove Albion’s Michelle Agyemang, Manchester City’s Kerstin Casparij, Aston Villa’s Kirsty Hanson, Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton and Liverpool's Ceri Holland to the accolade, our No19, who was also voted the Irons' Young Hammer of the Year and won our Goal of the Season, has picked up another award for her outstanding performances in Claret and Blue.

The 23-year-old, who won the WSL Player of the Month award for a second successive time this week, picked up another four goals last month, with all of them coming at the VBS Community Stadium in the Hammers’ resounding 7-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

Netting a first-half hat-trick with two left-footed strikes and a clinical header from Verena Hanshaw’s inch-perfect cross, the Germany U23 international bagged her fourth with a composed finish past Palace goalkeeper Shae Yanez in the second period.

Everyone at West Ham United would like to congratulate Shekiera on winning the PFA WSL Fans’ Player of the Month award!
