West Ham United v Brentford
Premier League, London Stadium, Monday 20 October 2025, 8pm BST
West Ham United welcome Brentford to London Stadium for a Premier League fixture under the London Stadium lights on Monday evening.
The Hammers kick-off Nuno Espírito Santo’s first home game in charge eager to secure a first victory under the Portuguese, and a first three points on home turf this season.
West Ham drew at Everton and were beaten at Arsenal before the October international window, but an improved defensive showing and the presence of Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville, Lucas Paquetá and El Hadji Malick Diouf means the east Londoners will always carry a threat in attack.
Brentford, meanwhile, have endured a mixed start to life under Keith Andrews, having won two, lost four and drawn one of their opening seven Premier League matches.
The stage is therefore set for a competitive derby in E20!

Team News…
Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo will hold his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon. However, we know the Portuguese will have Tomáš Souček available for the first time after serving a three-match suspension.
The Portuguese also revealed earlier this week in an interview that German centre-forward Niclas Füllkrug has an unspecified injury.
For Brentford, up until now, Keith Andrews' squad has been largely injury-free, but a few of his players picked up injuries during the October international break with their respective countries.
Aaron Hickey, who made his first Premier League start in 700 days against Manchester United at the end of September, was taken off during Scotland's win over Greece last week, while Anthony Milambo was stretchered off during Netherlands U21s' match with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Gustavo Nunes and Paris Maghoma remain long-term absentees for the Bees.

Opposition…
Brentford face a new challenge this season – playing in the Premier League with a head coach not named Thomas Frank.
The Dane departed the Bees after eight-and-a-half years – nearly seven of them as head coach – in June this year, having guided the west London club to promotion in 2020/21 and established them in the top-flight over the next four seasons.
Working alongside innovative owner Matthew Benham, the former hedge fund manager, sports gambling entrepreneur and boyhood Brentford supporter who favours an analytics-based approach to recruitment, Frank coached a succession of previously little or unknown players and turned them into household names.
England strikers Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney, Spain goalkeeper David Raya and Algeria’s former West Ham United winger Saïd Benrahma all arrived and departed in recent years, but still Brentford continued to rise.
The Bees buzzed to tenth in the Premier League table and reached the EFL Cup quarter-finals last season.
Forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa each scored 20 goals and fellow striker Kevin Schade added 12 for a potent attack. Danes Christian Nørgaard and Mikkel Damsgaard ran the midfield, while Dutch goalkeeper Mark Flekken and centre-back Sepp van den Berg were pillars in defence.
Come the start of the new campaign, however, only Schade, Damsgaard and van den Berg remain part of the Brentford squad, while Frank has been succeeded as head coach by former MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers and Republic of Ireland midfielder and Bees set piece coach Keith Andrews.
In his first senior managerial role, Andrews has to deal with replacing 40 goals, his captain and an experienced international goalkeeper, all at once.
Brentford banked nearly £150 million from the sale of Mbeumo to Manchester United, Wissa to Newcastle United, Nørgaard to Arsenal and Flekken to Bayer Leverkusen, a huge net profit on the fees the Bees paid for the quartet.
The challenge for Benham, Director of Football and former quantitative analyst Phil Giles and Technical Director Lee Dykes was then to provide Andrews with players of sufficient quality to replace them.
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher, experienced England international Jordan Henderson, ex-AFC Bournemouth forward Dango Ouattara, Dutch U21 international Antoni Milambo and Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson were all signed in the summer, while former Ludogorets Razgrad and Club Brugge striker Igor Thiago has been promoted to the starting XI.
At time of writing, Brentford had made an inconsistent start to life with a new head coach and a new-look squad, defeating Aston Villa in both the Premier League and EFL Cup and overcoming Manchester United, but losing at Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and Fulham and at home to Manchester City last time out.
Previous Meetings…
West Ham edge the head-to-head record with Brentford, having won 24 of the teams’ meetings to the Bees’ 21, while there have been 12 draws.
Monday’s game will be just the ninth Premier League fixture between the two clubs.
West Ham have won only one of the previous eight. In that victory, Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen notched the first hat-trick of his career in a 4-2 triumph at London Stadium in February 2024.
Prior to the Bees’ promotion to the Premier League in 2020/21, the most-recent meetings came back in the 1992/93 season, when both clubs were in the old First Division (now the Championship).
West Ham were promoted that season, having drawn 0-0 at Brentford's old Griffin Park stadium before thrashing the Bees 4-0 at the Boleyn Ground, where Martin Allen, Peter Butler, Trevor Morley and Kevin Keen got the goals for Billy Bonds' side.
Our first-ever meeting came all the way back on 11 September 1897, when Thames Ironworks FC, as we were then known, won a London League fixture 1-0 at the Memorial Grounds, with Scotsman Jimmy Reid getting the only goal of the game in front of 1,000 spectators.

Assistant Referees: Nick Hopton & Craig Taylor
Fourth Official: Thomas Bramall
VAR: Jarred Gillett
Assistant VAR: Tim Robinson
Andrew Madley has been confirmed as the referee for West Ham United’s Premier League fixture against Brentford on Monday.
Originally from Huddersfield, the 42-year-old has been a part of Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) Select Group One since 2019, having made his refereeing debut in Watford’s 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth on 31 March 2018.
Madley has refereed 114 Premier League matches in total, including nine involving West Ham, with the first three played during the COVID-affected 2020/21 season at Leicester City, Southampton and Aston Villa.
The most-recent of Madley’s Hammers’ appointments in the Premier League was at Liverpool in April 2025, when Virgil Van Dijk’s header condemned us to a late defeat, while his other two West Ham appointments in 2024/25 were the 4-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in September and the 5-1 Carabao Cup third round reverse at Anfield the following month, when Edson Álvarez was sent-off for two bookable offences.
The Yorkshire-based official refereed the 2023/24 FA Cup final in which Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1, as well as the 2015 and 2019 EFL League One Play-Off finals, won by Preston North End and Charlton Athletic respectively.
