Referee: Andrew Madley
Assistant Referees: Nick Hopton & Craig Taylor
Fourth Official: Thomas Bramall
VAR: Jarred Gillett
Assistant VAR: Tim Robinson
Andrew Madley has been confirmed as the referee for West Ham United’s Premier League fixture against Brentford on Monday.
Originally from Huddersfield, the 42-year-old has been a part of Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) Select Group One since 2019, having made his refereeing debut in Watford’s 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth on 31 March 2018.
Madley has refereed 114 Premier League matches in total, including nine involving West Ham, with the first three played during the COVID-affected 2020/21 season at Leicester City, Southampton and Aston Villa.
The most-recent of Madley’s Hammers’ appointments in the Premier League was at Liverpool in April 2025, when Virgil Van Dijk’s header condemned us to a late defeat, while his other two West Ham appointments in 2024/25 were the 4-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in September and the 5-1 Carabao Cup third round reverse at Anfield the following month, when Edson Álvarez was sent-off for two bookable offences.
The Yorkshire-based official refereed the 2023/24 FA Cup final in which Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1, as well as the 2015 and 2019 EFL League One Play-Off finals, won by Preston North End and Charlton Athletic respectively.
Nick Hopton and Craig Taylor will serve as the assistant referees at London Stadium.
Hopton has run the line at seven Premier League games so far this campaign, having been a top-flight assistant referee since the 2017/18 season, and duly served with Madley in the aforementioned defeat to Spurs in north London. He also worked the 2022 Community Shield between Liverpool and Manchester City.
Taylor, meanwhile, ran the line at London Stadium in our BOYLE Sports Cup victory over LOSC Lille in August. He was also a match official for both of our victories over Manchester United last season. He was an assistant referee at London Stadium when Bowen’s late penalty secured a dramatic 2-1 win in October, and was VAR assistant to Madley in the 2-0 success at Old Trafford in May.
Thomas Bramall will work as the fourth official on Monday.
Bramall, who has been a Premier League-level referee since 2022, was the main official for West Ham’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in January, and has taken charge of four top-flight matches this season, most recently Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 win at Leeds United before the October international window.
Video Assistant Referee duties are set to be overseen by Jarred Gillett. The 38-year-old has been a part of Professional Game Match Officials Limited’s (PGMOL) Select Group 1 since the start of the 2021/22 season, having established himself in his native Australia, and took charge of our 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham in September. He will be assisted by Tim Robinson.
