Who has been called up?

As mentioned, ten first team West Ham players are heading out to play for their countries in the coming days.

Vladimír Coufal and Tomáš Souček will return to the ground where West Ham won the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League later this week, having been named in the Czech Republic squad for their UEFA 2024 European qualification match with Albania and a friendly away to Hungary.

Similarly, Alphonse Areola could be in qualification action when France play Republic Of Ireland on Thursday before a friendly away to Germany next Tuesday.

New signing Konstantinos Mavropanos could also feature for Greece in their UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers. They are set to play the Netherlands away on Thursday and Gibraltar at home on Sunday in a pair of Group B outings.

While former Hammers are looking to secure their place in the 2024 UEFA European Championship finals, four more are trying to do the same for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Another new Iron in Mohammed Kudus will play for Ghana in their Group E fixture at home to Central African Republic on Thursday, before they cap the international break with a friendly versus Liberia on Tuesday 12 September.

Saïd Benrahma and his Algerian international colleagues have already secured their qualification to the final tournament next year, and they face Tanzania in their last qualifier on Thursday at 8pm BST. They then close out the international break with a friendly away to Senegal on Tuesday 12 September.

Nayef Aguerd playing for Morocco

Nayef Aguerd and Morocco have already qualified for the finals in the Ivory Coast next January. They play their last qualification match on Saturday, at home to Liberia, before a friendly versus Burkina Faso in Lens, France, the following Tuesday.

Speaking of the Ivory Coast, they too have also already qualified. Maxwel Cornet and his compatriots play Lesotho on Saturday at 5pm BST in their final qualifier, and will also contest a friendly contest with Mali next Tuesday.

Michail Antonio will be in CONCACAF Nations League action with Jamaica. A match at home to Honduras in League A, Group B, will be played at 2am BST on Saturday 9 September, and a second fixture – against Haiti – will be played at 1am BST on Wednesday 13 September.

Capping a busy international break for the West Ham United squad is Edson Álvarez’s involvement with the Mexico squad. The 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup winners will play two friendlies in America over the coming days; one versus Australia in Texas in the early hours of Sunday morning and the other against Uzbekistan in Atlanta, Georgia, at 12.30am BST on Wednesday 13 September.
