Orford & Herrick

Academy Internationals | Orford and Herrick selected for England U20s

West Ham United Academy duo Lewis Orford and Fin Herrick have been included in the England U20s squad for the third time this season for their upcoming friendly international against Japan at Doncaster Rovers' Eco-Power Stadium on Friday 14 November at 7.30pm at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Last season’s Premier League 2 Player of the Season nominee Orford has started both of England U20s friendly fixtures this season against Italy and Switzerland, although they both ended in narrow defeats.

The 19-year-old midfielder has also represented the Young Lions at U15s, U16s, U18s and U19s. Last season, Orford made seven appearances for the U19s, scoring twice and captaining his country in a 4-1 win over the Netherlands.

This term, Orford is currently on loan at League One outfit Stevenage, for whom he made his EFL debut against Reading as a substitute on Thursday evening.

Last season’s Premier League 2 Golden Glove winner Herrick could be set to make his debut for a fifth England age group when he joins up with the U20s, having already featured for the U16s, U17s, U18s and U19s across the past four years.

In the U19s last term, the 19-year-old goalkeeper earned five caps, keeping two clean sheets in UEFA European U19 Championship qualifiers. He was selected for the final tournament in Albania in the summer, though Arsenal’s Tommy Setford was preferred in goal as England exited at the group stage.

Although he was called up for the first time in September, Herrick withdrew from the England U20s after securing a deadline day move to National League side Boreham Wood. There, he made ten appearances, keeping five clean sheets and losing just one game, before being recalled. During that time, he was also called up to Futcher's squad for their October international against Switzerland, although he did not feature.
