West Ham United to make history in The Lady Mayor’s Show

West Ham United will become the first Premier League club to take part in the historic Lady Mayor’s Show in the City of London on Saturday 8 November.

For the first time in its more than 800-year history, the procession will be the Lady Mayor’s Show after lifelong West Ham supporter, Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley DBE, was elected as the 607th Lord Mayor of London for 2025-26.

The Lady Mayor’s Show is the oldest, longest, best loved and least-rehearsed civic procession in the world, dating back to the 13th century, with over 125 organisations and thousands of people taking part in a parade more than three miles long.

The procession will depart from Mansion House at 11am to the Royal Courts, St Paul’s Cathedral, Temple and returning to Mansion House at 2.40pm, with over 350,000 people expected to line streets of the City of London and millions more watching live coverage on television and online around the world.

West Ham United’s float will be near the head of the procession and will showcase the history and legends of the Club since its formation as Thames Ironworks FC in 1895, the Hammers’ achievements and diversity and the community work done by the Club’s Foundation.

The Lady Mayor’s Appeal funded the Inspire Zone at The Foundry, West Ham’s recently opened community hub in Beckton in the London Borough of Newham.

Lady Mayor Elect, Dame Susan Langley DBE was born in West Ham and attended school in Harold Wood before going on to forge a successful career in business and civic leadership.

Dame Susan was elected to represent Aldgate Ward on the Court of Aldermen – a committee which forms part of the City of London Corporation – in 2018 and served as Sheriff of the City of London for 2023-24.

On Friday 7 November, Dame Susan will become just the third woman to become Lord Mayor of London, and the first to use the title Lady Mayor, with the traditional Lady Mayor’s Show taking place the following day.

Dame Susan, whose role as Lady Mayor will be to represent and promote the businesses and residents in the City of London, said: “I’m deeply honoured to have been elected to this office, and to be leading the first ever Lady Mayor’s Show.

“To see so many people join the parade is an extraordinary moment – one that celebrates the City’s long-standing traditions and puts the spotlight on so many of the good causes that we support for the benefit of the City and the UK.

“To be part of this historic procession, riding through the streets of the Square Mile in the State Coach, and to enjoy the Show’s amazing atmosphere with everyone else, will be really unforgettable!

“During my mayoralty, I will work to strengthen London’s global leadership, support business growth, and ensure that the City continues to make a positive social impact, while, I hope, demonstrating to the next generation that the City is a great place to live and work in.”
