West Ham United Foundation links up with women’s team for elite U16 training sessions

The West Ham United Foundation is proud to announce a new collaboration with the Professional Game Academy (PGA) through West Ham United women’s team.

This partnership is set to offer a big boost for talented female players under the age of 16, giving them a chance to train in a more professional setting and take their game to the next level.

Starting in September 2025, selected U16 players from the Foundation’s programme will have access to free weekly elite training sessions at the iconic Chadwell Heath training ground, home to the women's team and the Academy of Football. The weekly sessions are designed to mirror the structure and standards of the Women’s Professional Game Academy, offering a well-rounded football development experience.

Players can expect high level coaching overseen by senior Club staff, focused on the player's development in a professional and competitive environment. Just like the players in the Barclays Women’s Super League, players will review their game footage in dedicated analysis sessions to help improve their tactical knowledge and decision-making skills.

Off the pitch, they’ll follow age-appropriate gym circuits, led by experienced physical development staff focused on building strength and physical literacy. All sessions will be overseen by a qualified physiotherapist, who will be on hand to help with any injuries and physical assessments.

“We’re thrilled to bring this development to fruition,” commented Joseph Lyons, West Ham United Foundation CEO. “Year on year we have been able to strengthen opportunities through our pathway - with thanks to unwavering support from the Board of West Ham United women’s team - bridging the gap between the Foundation’s Player Pathway and the Professional Game Academy.

“We have so many talented young players and this gives them a further taste of a professional football environment, helping to prepare them for the next level.”

West Ham United women’s team manager, Rehanne Skinner, also shared her support for the partnership. She said: “As the women’s game continues to grow and evolve, the importance of laying the foundations to support the next generation is vitally important.

“Princess Ademiluyi signed her first professional contract with us last summer and is a perfect example to any young player for what can be achieved through our pathway.

“Working alongside the Foundation, I hope this partnership can help to support many other talented players in their footballing journeys moving forwards.”

Ademiluyi joined the Club aged 12, progressing through the West Ham United Foundation’s Player Pathway programme. During the 2022/23 season, Princess scored eight goals in 12 games for the U21s, earning her a call-up to the first team. She made her Women’s Super League debut at just 16, coming off the bench against Brighton in May 2023, and has tallied up 20 appearances since.

Success stories like Princess’ are proof of what can happen when talent is supported with the right development opportunities. Through regular observation and support from PGA coaches, this new initiative aims to drive more players to make similar inspiring breakthroughs within the women’s game.
