Seven West Ham United women’s team players now know who their respective national teams will face in the 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League promotion/relegation play-offs.
Following the draw, which was made at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Friday 6 June, the two-legged play-offs which will played between 22 and 28 October are now set.
Six of the seven Hammers will be playing for a place in League A, with the losers either being relegated to or remaining in League B.
Dagný Brynjarsdóttir’s Iceland, who finished third in League A2, will take on Northern Ireland, who finished second in League B1, with the second leg to be played in Iceland.
Defender Eva Nyström and midfielder Oona Siren and their Finland teammates, who finished as runners-up in League B3, will tackle Denmark, who finished third in League A4. Finland will host the first leg.
FAI Young Women’s International Player of the Year Jessie Stapleton could come face-to-face with fellow Hammer Amber Tysiak after League B2 runners-up Republic of Ireland were drawn against third-place League A3 finishers Belgium. Ireland will host the first leg on Friday 24 October, with Belgium hosting the second on Tuesday 28 October.
Verena Hanshaw and Austria’s reward for coming third in League A1 is a two-legged match-up with League B4 runners-up Czech Republic. Austria will host the second leg.
Halle Houssein’s Turkey will be one of four teams involved in the League B/C promotion/relegation play-offs after finishing third in League B2. They have been drawn to face Kosovo, who finished second in League C6, with Turkey hosting the second leg.
France, Germany, Spain and Sweden will contest the 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League Finals, the two-legged semi-finals of which will be held in October, with the possibility therefore that Hammer of the Year Viviane Asseyi and Young Hammer of the Year Shekiera Martinez could be involved.
