In Pictures: Hammers take two-goal lead to Denmark

West Ham United returned to European action on Thursday night with the first leg of our UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round tie against Viborg FF.

The Hammers welcomed the Danish side to London Stadium with a place in the competition's group stage on the line and gave full debuts to Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet.

The pair wasted no time in making an impact, too, as Scamacca nodded home Cornet's cross to give us a 1-0 lead midway through the opening half.

With 64 minutes played, Jarrod Bowen carried the ball to the edge of the box and placed a low finish beyond away keeper Lucas Lund to double the advantage.

Viborg would not lie down though and Jacob Bonde headed them back into the tie five minutes later.

West Ham would soon restore their two-goal advantage as subs Saïd Benrahma and Michail Antonio combined, the former dashing clear down the left to square for his No9 to tap home.

3-1 was how it finished, meaning the Hammers will head to Denmark for the return leg next week in the driving seat.
