Lucas Paquetá shoots against the post at Wembley

Paquetá's Brazil defeat Bowen's England in Wembley friendly

Lucas Paquetá's Brazil defeated Jarrod Bowen's England by a solitary goal in an international friendly at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.

Both West Ham United stars were involved in the showpiece friendly in London, with Paquetá's side coming out on top thanks to 17-year-old Endrick's late winner.

Paquetâ started in midfield for the visitors, earning his first cap since June last year, and his 43rd in total.

The Hammers No10 was at the heart of the action during his 71 minutes on the pitch, clipping a ball over the top for Vinícius Júnior early on, who was denied by Kyle Walker's goalline clearance, then striking a left-footed shot against the post before the break,

Paquetá also picked up a yellow card on an eventful return to the international fold.

Jarrod Bowen takes on Brazil's Bruno Guimrães

He was withdrawn moments after Bowen entered the fray for his sixth cap for England, who were ultimately left frustrated as they fell to a first Wembley defeat in 21 matches.

The pair will hope for more action for their respective countries before the international break is out, with Brazil taking on Spain in a friendly in Madrid on Tuesday, while the Three Lions host Belgium on the same day.

Elsewhere in Saturday's action, Alphonse Areola was an unused substitute as France fell to a 2-0 friendly defeat at home to Germany.

Les Bleus are back in action on Tuesday when they host Chile in another friendly.
