West Ham United U18s forward Chuk Obi has been called up to the Denmark U17s squad for a friendly double-header against Germany in Marbella, Spain.
Obi earned his first caps for the Danes earlier this season in three friendlies on home soil against fellow Scandinavian opponents Norway, Finland and Sweden. He missed out on international friendlies against Belgium and the Netherlands in September and their UEFA European U17 Championship qualifiers in October.
Morten Corlin’s side qualified for the elite round in spring as the second seed in Group 4, trailing Spain, but beating Latvia and Andorra. The elite round will feature 28 teams, made up of the top two from each of the 14 groups in the first round, drawn into seven groups of four, with only the winners of each group qualifying for the final tournament alongside hosts Estonia next May.
The young Danes will continue to prepare for their spring qualifiers with two friendly fixtures against Germany, who also qualified for the elite round after topping Group 13.
Obi and his teammates will face the Germans twice in southern Spain. The fixtures will be held on Saturday 15 November at the Marbella Football Centre and on Tuesday 18 November at 2pm at the Banús Football Centre.
