Martinez nominated for PFA WSL Fans’ Player of the Month award

West Ham United women’s team forward Shekiera Martinez has been nominated for the PFA WSL Fans’ Player of the Month award for April.

Our No19 had another fantastic month in Claret and Blue, scoring four goals and helping the women’s team record their biggest-ever Barclays Women’s Super League victory - a 7-1 rout over Crystal Palace.

With a bullet header and two composed, classy left-footed finishes, the 23-year-old bagged a first-half hat-trick at the VBS Community Stadium before she netted her fourth in the second period, finding the bottom-right corner when one-on-one with Palace goalkeeper Shae Yanez.

The history-making match, which saw her become the first-ever Hammer to score four in a WSL game, followed a goalless draw against Manchester United at Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Martinez, who recently won the women’s team’s Young Hammer of the Year and Goal of the Season awards, is up against Brighton & Hove Albion’s Michelle Agyemang, Manchester City’s Kerstin Casparij, Aston Villa’s Kirsty Hanson, Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton and Ceri Holland for the PFA accolade.

Make sure to vote for Martinez by clicking HERE! Voting closes at 11.59pm on Thursday 8 May.
