Luizão made his Pogoń Szczecin debut at the weekend in the Polish first division, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 away defeat to Radomiak.
In front of a crowd of over 8,000, the hosts took an early lead before Pogoń captain Kamil Grosicki, formerly of Hull City and West Bromwich Albion, thought he had equalised in the second half, only for his goal to be ruled out for a handball offence in the build-up. Radomiak then sealed the result with a second goal in stoppage time.
Earlier in the week, George Earthy featured in Bristol City’s EFL Championship play-off semi-final first leg against Sheffield United. Their first taste of second-tier play-off action since 2008, the Robins started off the tie well, feeding off the energy of the home crowd and going close to opening the scoring when Joe Williams struck the crossbar with a superb effort from outside the box.

Earthy then replaced the injured Williams, but his side were put on the back foot almost immediately when Rob Dickie was sent off for a last-man foul on Kieffer Moore, allowing Harrison Burrows to put the Blades in front from the spot on the stroke of half-time. With a one-man advantage, the visitors turned the screw with goals from Andre Brooks and Callum O’Hare giving Sheffield United a 3-0 lead going into the second leg at Bramall Lane on Monday evening.
Also in play-off action, Gideon Kodua’s Wycombe Wanderers held in-form Charlton Athletic to a goalless draw in the first leg of their semi-final in League One. Kodua, who was an unused substitute, will hope to make an impact in Thursday’s decisive second leg at The Valley.
In the FA Trophy final, Brad Dolaghan capped his trip to Wembley with silverware as he and his Aldershot Town teammates lifted the trophy. In their first trip to Wembley in 99 years, the Shots claimed a 3-0 victory over Spennymoor Town thanks to goals from Jack Barham, Dan Ellison and Joshua Barrett.
