West Ham United women’s team forward Shekiera Martinez has been called up to Germany’s squad for their UEFA Women’s Nations League final against Spain.
The 24-year-old received her first-ever senior call-up during the October international break, as Germany went on to secure their place in the showpiece with a dramatic two-legged semi-final victory over France.
While Martinez was an unused substitute across the two legs, she has been in scintillating form since returning to the Hammers - scoring against Leicester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League, bagging a brilliant brace against Southampton in the Subway® Women's League Cup and netting in our first WSL win of the season over Everton.
The striker, who has scored 12 WSL goals in 2025, the most in the division in the calendar year, will now return to Christian Wück’s side, hoping to make her first-team debut in the two-legged showpiece and help Germany clinch the trophy against the world champions.
Germany and Spain will first face off in Kaiserslautern on Friday 28 November at Fritz-Walter-Stadion, with the game kicking off at 7.30pm GMT, before they meet again in Madrid on Tuesday 2 December at 5.30pm GMT at Estadio Metropolitano.
The teams last met in the semi-finals of UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, when Aitana Bonmatí scored a 113th-minute winner in extra-time in Zurich, Switzerland.
