West Ham United midfielder Andy Irving has been called-up to the Scotland senior squad by manager Steve Clarke for two vital 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Scotland travel to Greece and host Denmark in their final two European qualifying Group C ties, knowing two wins would take them to next summer’s finals in North America.
After drawing their opening match in Denmark in September, Scotland have won home and away to Belarus and beaten Greece at Hampden Park to put themselves second in Group C, behind the Danes only on goal difference.
Therefore, victories in their closing two qualifiers would guarantee top spot and qualification for a first World Cup finals since 1998, and the ninth time in Scotland’s history.
After being left out of the initial squad, Irving has been called by Clarke due to injuries to Napoli’s Billy Gilmour, Bristol City’s Ross McCrorie and Udinese teenager Lennon Miller.
The Edinburgh-born 25-year-old has featured six times in the Premier League for the Hammers this season.
He made his senior Scotland debut in a friendly win in Liechtenstein in June this year.
