Emerson

FPL - Gameweek 24 Preview

Emerson's maiden Premier League goal not only helped West Ham United secure a precious point against his former club Chelsea, but also earned the wing-back a place in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Team of the Week.

So, after a star showing in Gameweek 23, should FPL managers be drafting the UEFA Euro 2020 winner into their squads for the remainder of the season?

Read on to find out...

Team of the Week

Emerson grabbed the headlines by scoring his first-ever Premier League goal in West Ham United's 1-1 draw with his former club Chelsea last Saturday lunchtime.

The Italy international wing-back amassed his best FPL Gameweek haul of the season too, with ten points, earning him a place in the Team of the Week.

On his 44th appearance in the top-flight, the No33 netted the equaliser when he tapped home Jarrod Bowen’s flick-on with 28 minutes played in east London.

With six points for his goal, two for completing 90 minutes and two more Bonus Points, Emerson totaled ten and made it 18 points from his previous three appearances in Claret and Blue.

Previously, Emerson had tallied six points in the 2-0 home win over Everton and two from the 1-1 draw at Newcastle United, and he is now up to 25 for the season.

As a team, West Ham have collected five points from the last three Premier League matches and key to that upturn in form has been the Italy international himself, who, alongside his fellow wing-back, Vladimír Coufal, has thrived since David Moyes switched to a 3-4-3 formation in recent matches.

Selected by just 1.5% of FPL managers at time of writing, Emerson is available for £4.0m.

With two of the Hammers’ next four matches rated as two (low) on the FPL Fixture Difficulty Ranking, that ownership and price could rise, so snap him up now before it's too late!

Opposition One to Watch: Harry Kane

It is difficult to pick out of any other Tottenham Hotspur player to select in your FPL squad than Harry Kane.

The England captain reached the 150-point mark in last weekend's 4-1 defeat at Leicester City, having scored at least one point in each of Spurs' 23 Premier League matches this season.

Harry Kane FPL

This year, he has returned double-figure Gameweek points haul on four occasions, while his return of 17 Premier League goals, matching the total in he netted in 2021/22, has been bettered only by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland's 25 so far this season.

The £11.8m striker did not find the net in the reverse fixture at London Stadium in August, but he did register an assist as Thilo Kehrer put his cross into his own net.

Overall, Kane has scored eleven goals in 22 appearances against West Ham across his career, but has not netted in any of the last four meetings between the sides. Hammers fans will hope that run continues on Sunday...
