Alphonse Areola

Fantasy Premier League | Gameweek 9 Hints and Tips

West Ham United travel to Leeds United on Friday evening, seeking a return to winning ways in the Premier League.

Friday’s match away at Daniel Farke’s side, who have enjoyed a promising start to life back in the Premier League, having only lost two of their opening eight fixtures, is a big fixture for the Hammers, who are hoping to secure Nuno's first win and boost our current 19th-place standing.

The fixture with the Whites has a Fixture Difficulty Rating (FDR) of two out of five, suggesting it represents an opportunity to collect points by picking Hammers in your FPL team.

The Gameweek 9 transfer deadline is set for 6.30pm on Friday 24 October.

While we will be giving you FPL tips and tricks throughout the remainder of the 2025/26 season on whufc.com, see below for some of our picks for the upcoming round.

Areola appeals against the Whites…

A low price makes Alphonse Areola (£4.3m) a potential bargain buy.

Admittedly, some will see Areola as a bit of an ambitious pick, considering the Hammers’ recent form, but it’s important to remember Nuno steered his former side Nottingham Forest to 13 clean sheets in 2024/25, and having made four strong saves against Brentford on Monday, our No23 can be a useful selection against Leeds.

Crysencio Summerville

Summerville to haunt his former side?

Crysencio Summerville (£5.5m) has been a breath of fresh air since returning to the fold, displaying some dazzling footwork.

The young Dutchman has come back from a hamstring injury to show why he can be a real difference-maker in the Premier League.

Bristling with a desire to impress, Summerville, who will pose a big threat against his former side, will be eager to impress agaist Leeds, where he was crowned Championship Player of the Year following his outstanding exploits during 2023/24.

Jarrod Bowen

Bowen to repay the faith

Despite Jarrod Bowen’s (£7.8m) switch from midfielder to forward this season, he has quietly excelled and is the fifth-highest-scoring forward this season in FPL.

Bowen was the third-most transferred-in forward for Gameweek 8 but blanked for owners on what was a frustrating night both individually and collectively in east London against Brentford.

Leeds have conceded twice in each of their previous three games, and the form and defensive data both combine to suggest our captain can deliver another FPL haul at Elland Road, and with our No20 being one of our most important players when it comes to creativity, he is likely to repay your faith.
