Freddie Potts: We go into every game with confidence

West Ham United U23s midfielder Freddie Potts is backing his team to bounce back when they take on Liverpool at Rush Green this afternoon.

The Hammers missed the chance to go top of the Premier League 2 Division 1 table when they suffered a last-minute defeat to Leicester City on Monday, but have the perfect chance to get back on track against the Reds.

The Reds have had a mixed start to the campaign, and come into the match ninth in the table, six places and seven points behind Dmitri Halajko’s team.

For Potts, he can’t wait to get back onto the pitch to put right Monday’s result.

“In the past we looked at big games, not as underdogs but with a little bit of pressure on it, but this year with the depth we have in our squad we’re looking ahead to every game with confidence,” he explained.

“We’ve shown in every game that we’ve had chances to win them and we want to finish on a high before the international break.

“I’m really enjoying my football at the moment in that midfield three with Pierre Ekwah and Keenan Forson in there. I feel we balance off each other really well.

“Monday was a game that we should have won – or definitely got at least a result from. We showed in parts of the game that we controlled it, and especially in the early part of the second half we were by far the better team.

“We’ve been more clinical in recent games and we agreed that we weren’t as good as we should be if we want to go on and win the league.”
