On This Day: Spector and Cole freeze Manchester United out of the League Cup

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Heineken...

West Ham United stunned Manchester United in the snow with a sensational 4-0 League Cup fifth-round win at the Boleyn Ground on this day exactly eleven years ago!

The Irons kicked-off bottom of the Premier League table, while the Red Devils were top, had thrashed Blackburn Rovers 7-1 in their previous fixture and were the League Cup holders.

But all that counted for nothing on a memorable night under the floodlights, as former Manchester United youngster Jonathan Spector scored two first-half goals to put Avram Grant's hosts on their way to an unforgettable victory.

Carlton Cole bagged two goals himself after half-time as the Irons won through to the semi-finals, warming the vast majority of the 33,551 freezing supporters inside the stadium.
