PL Stories: The Tragic Tale of Dylan Tombides

Exclusive cinema screening of Dylan Tombides documentary in Romford

A special screening of a powerful documentary detailing the life and career of the late West Ham United Academy icon, Dylan Tombides, will take place at Lumiere Cinema, Romford, in November.

A host of former Hammers will attend the show, which is organised by E13 Events to raise awareness of testicular cancer and funds for DT38 Foundation, the charity created in Dylan’s memory.

Tony Cottee, Alan Curbishley and Paul Konchesky are among the special guests attending the event on Friday 7 November at 6.30pm.

The 60-minute programme charts Dylan’s journey from boyhood, to his Hammers first team debut at the age of 18, and his tragic passing at the age of just 20.

It features rarely seen footage from across Dylan’s life and contributions from Baroness Karren Brady, Mark Noble, Mile Jedinak and Dylan’s mother Tracy, father Jim and older brother Taylor, among many others who knew him.

The talented Academy forward lost his three-year battle with the testicular cancer in 2014 and DT38 was launched a year later by his family in partnership with West Ham United to raise awareness of the risks of the disease.

Tracy Tombides, CEO of DT38, who will attend the screening, said: “The reaction since this documentary first aired has been astonishing.

“There is no doubting how moved people are by Dylan’s story and I think watching this documentary really brings it home.

“It was our Dylan whose life journey was cut so short and it robbed us all of so many dreams, but it could have been anyone’s son, brother, grandson, nephew or friend.

“And for the first time ‘in public’, those who knew Dylan well are putting it all out there.

“I’m not saying it’s an easy watch, but it’s an important watch and highlights so beautifully how inspiring my son Dylan was in his short, but very exciting, life.”

The show will raise funds for DT38, which relies entirely on events and donations to continue its work raising awareness of testicular cancer to help save men’s and boy’s lives.

The documentary, Premier League Stories: Dylan Tombides, was co-produced by DT38 Patron David Davutovic and first shown on Sky Sports and TNT Sports in 2024.

It is not currently available to view on streaming platforms in the UK.
