On This Day: West Ham United hit Watford for four to keep Play-Off hopes alive

West Ham United set up a Division One Play-Off decider with Wigan Athletic by hammering Watford 4-0 at the Boleyn Ground on this day in 2004.

Don Hutchison marked his first game in four months by driving in a free-kick and Christian Dailly doubled the lead by heading in a corner off the post.

Marlon Harewood made it three with a twice-taken penalty after a foul on Bobby Zamora and then hit his second by turning in Joel McAnuff's cross to complete a comprehensive victory.

Alan Pardew's side drew 1-1 at Wigan eight days later to reach the Play-Offs, where they defeated Ipswich Town over two legs in the semi-finals, only for Crystal Palace to edge the final 1-0.
