Dean Ashton was at the double on this day in 2008 as West Ham United made a winning start to the new Premier Leage season.
The Hammers had enough to see off Wigan Athletic 2-1, as Ashton netted twice to give them a 2-0 lead inside the first ten minutes.
Egyptian striker Amr Zaki pulled one back soon after half-time, but West Ham saw out the game to claim three points.
