Former Hammers left back Scott Minto is today celebrating his 44th birthday.

Born in Merseyside, he spent most of his career in London, beginning south of the river with Charlton Athletic.

He made over 200 appearances for the Addicks before moving on to Chelsea for a £875,000 fee in July 1994.

In three years at Stamford Bridge, Minto made the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and picked up an FA Cup winners medal in 1997 - in his last game for the club.

Minto moved to play for Benfica in Portugal, and remained there for 18 months before the Hammers paid £1m to bring him back to England in January 1999.

He played 51 league games for the club and left at the end of his contract in 2003 to join League 1 side Rotherham United.

After retiring in 2006, he became a pundit on Sky Sports, and currently fronts their Spanish football coverage.
