Girls win right to represent Hammers

West Ham United Community Sports Trust [CST) hosted a prestigious football tournament that saw girls from several locals schools battle for the right to represent the Hammers later this year.

Schools from across London and Essex showed off their skills in the Under-13 West Ham Regional competition, held at the CST base in Beckton.

The winners were Frances Bardsley Academy, from Romford, who will now take part in the Premier League National Schools Competition in May.

Bryan Glover, CST Football Development Officer, said: "The tournament was very competitive with all the teams showing a great attitude and commitment. All the girls gave their all despite it being a very cold day.

"The winning school demonstrated excellent teamwork and ability throughout and we are very much looking forward to seeing them in the national competition."

The CST is currently organising an Under-11 mixed regional tournament, due to take place in February. The winners of that will also join the Under-13s in the national rounds.
