WHUIFC wants talent

A football team made up of West Ham United supporters is looking for new players for the 2009/10 season.

West Ham United IFC, who play their home matches at Flanders in East Ham, is made up entirely of West Ham United season-ticket holders. The team regularly meet up with supporters' teams from other clubs on matchday mornings for a game, with the fixtures generally corresponding with the games the West Ham first team play.

The club has been around since 1996, forming after fans on internet message boards suggested meeting up for a game. Since then they have gone from strength to strength and will go into the season on a high after being voted iFA team of the season and reaching the semi-finals at a recent nationwide tournament.

Assistant manager Vincent White says they are looking for players who can help improve the team. He said: "It's a good standard of football and we really want to attract players of that calibre to come and join us.

"We play our home games at Flanders in East Ham and typically we'll kick-off at 10.30am on a matchday, which gives players time to get where they want to get afterwards."
