Manager Alan Pardew says spirits are high and the mood at the camp is very encouraging.
"Everybody has come back looking terrific," he said.
"There's a new feel to the training ground after the summer make-over, there's been a re-energising of the training ground and it's been met with universal approval.
"Everything is in place now for us to get down to some hard work and build up to the new season. I'm excited about the new season and you can sense that the players are too."
