"There were a few scares at the end, and I think we should have killed the game off a lot earlier, but all around it was a good performance," he says.
Matthew supplied one of Teddy Sheringham's brace of goals with a pinpoint cross from the left and he says:
"It was a great header by Teddy - he took it well; he didn't get the hat trick and we should not have had the worry at the end, but I think we more than deserved to win.
"It was a good footballing game and they passed it about, but I think we outclassed them for long periods of the game and were good value for our win.
As for Southend on Tuesday, he concludes:
"It will be a good game and I suppose they will bring quite a bit of away support; it will be a big night for them and we have to make sure we put them away."
