"The suspension begins at Everton and is for an accumulation of 10 yellow cards, seven of which were he collected while at Leeds," confirms club secretary Peter Barnes.
An expulsion in that game could have led - unless it was for an automatic three match offence - to a mere one match ban, but with the proviso that he would have had to have avoided other yellow cards between now and mid-April or he would have served a lengthier ban on top of it.
Lee was booked for a foul on Goran Bunjecevic on Saturday.
Steve Lomas should be available for the trip to Goodison Park after a knee injury ruled him out at the weekend and he is likely to replace Lee.
Sunderland will also be missing a midfielder on March 22 - Gavin McCann, who picked up his 10th yellow card of the season in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Fulham.
There are no other West Ham players on the brink of a ban for the accumulation of yellow cards, of which West Ham have accumulated 47 - compared to four red cards - this season.
While on the statistics, West Ham have committed 368 fouls compared to next opponents Everton, who 'head' that Premiership table with 412 fouls.
But West Ham are 'top' of the offside league with 129 offsides.
Still want more? Michael Carrick's goal at the weekend just after half time was scored in the 10 minute spell that has been most productive for West Ham this season (41-50 minutes, seven goals) but the Hammers have still to score in the first 10 minutes of any Premiership game this season.
Incidentally, with England heading the UEFA Fair Play League at the moment it is Manchester City who currently look to benefit from the extra place that that accords.
Meanwhile West Ham have not put their names forward for next season's InterToto Cup.
"The deadline for applications expired on Friday," confirms Peter.
