"I found out on Friday I was playing and I just wanted to get it started as soon as possible," he says.
Scott was the subject of a Sunday newspaper story recently, which suggested he was making waves about not playing, but he insists: "I was a little bit annoyed about that because I had gone out of my way to try and be very diplomatic but of course I want to play, and they made something up.
"The gaffer knows that. Everyone wants to play - that is why we are footballers, and you don't enjoy it when you are not out there.
"I think Glenn would be disappointed if I was happy at not playing, though, it is a positive thing."
Scott's patience was certainly rewarded at the weekend, and he adds: "As far as I'm concerned I have been practically fit since Glenn has taken over - I have been getting my head down and working hard.
"I think he has seen that and it was just about trying to change his mind about what his idea about me was.
"There was no personality clashes, it was just an opinion. Nigel is a great player and wants to play, Vlad wants to play, and I want to play.
"There is only one left back that can play so it is a difficult decision for the gaffer but I think he knows I have been patient and not made a nuisance of myself - I have worked hard and I feel I deserved a chance."
Scott was proud to help the Hammers to a first clean sheet of the season, and he adds: "It is obvious that if you concede goals you can lose whereas if you keep clean sheets, one of the chances we had on Saturday, or certainly over the next few games, will go in.
"So if we keep clean sheets then we will start winning."
Scott feels it is not just about the ability in the squad helping the side off the bottom, but other factors.
"We all know we have got good players but that is not enough - you have to turn it into results," he says.
"We just need that first win and I am sure that will give us a lot of confidence - not that we are lacking in it, really - we just need a bit of luck."
Scott could have been the unlikely hero on Saturday when he had a chance to score inside the box after Trevor Sinclair laid it back to him in the first half, and he adds: "You can connect too well, that is almost what I did - it came across me a bit and went across the goal as well, so I was disappointed not to get it on target."
His conclusion is optimistic: "We felt we worked hard and played well, we kept a clean sheet, and we have just got to try and convert some of those chances, especially like the ones we got in the first half.
"I do believe that if we can get that early goal we can go on to win 4-0 or 5-0 against someone."
