There was mixed fortunes for West Ham's England trio on Tuesday when Sven Goran Eriksson named his final squad of 23, with Joe Cole and David James definitely staying in the Far East, but Trevor Sinclair was unlucky to be left out.

Sinclair had been called up to the squad on standby after Kieron Dyer looked unlikely to make the squad having been injured in Newcastle's final game of the season. Sinclair will will fly back to England tomorrow.

All three Hammers played in the second half of England's 1-1 draw with South Korea and Trevor, although returning home, could technically still be recalled up to 24 hours before the tournament starts as the rules allow for one change should England suffer a late injury.

A place in the World Cup squad is the icing on the cake for Cole and James after a great season, having both come of age in recent months as far as club and country are concerned.
