From: West Yorkshire
Suggestion: Emmanuel Petit (Barcelona, Spain)
Why: We need a ball winner in the middle of the park, and if Frank leaves all we will be left with is flair. It's good to have the talents of young Cole and Carrick, but we need a true leader, someone who an get stuck in and have a presence in the game. Petit has all this and is already linked for a return to the capital as he isn't getting the games for Barca - but will the fans be pleased with another ex-Arsenal man?
Name: Vaughan Jones
From: Bulkington
Suggestion: Graeme le Saux (Chelsea) and Regilio Vrede (Roda JC,
Holland)
Why: As fantastic as Stuart Pearce is, he hasn't got the legs
to run up and down the field forever and Le Saux is fantastic at
making overlapping runs on the left when he's found his best
form. Vrede is making the credentials as the next Jaap Stam. Plays
for Roda JC in the Dutch league and is a frightening opponent.
Could be another gem.
Name: Mick Spicer
From: London
Suggestion: Benito Carbone (Bradford City) and Muzzy Izzet
(Leicester City)
Why: Carbone is best pals with PDC and they formed a great
partnership at Sheff Wed before they were split up and the club
were relegated. He is an excellent player and I would pay for him
by selling Freddie Kanoute and also buying Muzzy Izzet with the
change
Name: Kevin Fogarty
From: Tunbridge Wells
Suggestion: Taribo West (Inter Milan)
Why: Since Rio Ferdinand has left I feel we have lacked a
young quality defender at the back. Derby have decided not to renew
his contract at the end of the season even though since he has
joined they have not won a match that he hasn't played in. All
West Ham need to do is sort out a contract so it isn't going to
dent their pocket, as he is on £25,000 a week at the moment.
Suggestion: Denis Irwin
Why: When you here his name you just think of a solid defender who
is loyal and gives 110%. He will be out of contract at the
end of the season and is debating signing a new one with Man Utd as
he is not a first team regular. He has won everything at the club
so I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted a change.
Name: Richard Wenn
From: Ilford
Suggestion: Muzzy Izzet (Leicester City)
Why: Could get him for around £6million and he would love to
play for us as he supported us a child. We could do with someone
like him.
Name: Daniel Nye
From: Newcastle
Suggestion: Mustapha Hadji (Coventry City)
Why: He is a top quality international at the peak of his career at
28. He can perform in a number of different positions but
significantly on the left side of midfield. For £5
million it would be good value, as he can score goals as well as
create. He also has experience of the Premiership so would take no
time to settle. He can also add an aerial threat to our attack.
Name: Neil Massey
From: Birmingham
Suggestion: Nicky Butt (Manchester United)
Why: I think we need someone in the middle of the park who can win
balls and put his foot in. I think that's what we
have lacked this season and I don't believe he wants to sit on
the bench much longer at Man Utd.
Name: Spencer Goss
From: Ilford
Suggestion: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Manchester United)
Why: With Van Nistelrooy going to Man U and Sheringham
thankfully staying there (don't buy him or Hartson), we need a
20 goals a season man, and we'd surely be able to sign this
bloke up for less than the £18m we got for Ferdinand.
Name: Stefano Marzaroli
From: Bologna, Italy
Suggestion: Julio Cruz (Bologna, Italy)
Why: Strong and well-built centre forward, third in rank in
Argentina national team, but only after Batistuta and Crespo. Is
already used to European football having already played in Holland
for three years with Feyenoord. This year has not lived up to
expectations and could be bought for not so much money for an
international player. He is sure a better player than Wanchope,
Suker or even Kanoute.
Name: Steve
From: Essex
Suggestion: Simone Inzaghi (Lazio)
Why: We've always needed a pacy out-and-out striker, and since
we never seem to have much money, this man would be at the top of
my list. He's out of favour at Lazio since Dino Zoff took over
and has said he would like a move away. This means we could pick
him up for around 5 million pounds, and that's a bargain for a
striker of this quality.
Name: Karen Sobek
Suggestion: Darren Purse (Birmingham City)
Why: Young, quick, good in the air, decent distribution and showed
what he's about with the last minute penalty in the Worthington
Cup final against Liverpool. If Birmingham don't get promoted
this year he might fancy a spell with a different club. Can play as
a pairing or as part of a three and has also got the ability to
move out of defence with the ball at his feet.
