Obviously it is a hard draw. But if we play the kind of football we
know we are capable of, as shown in the 5-1 drubbing of Germany, we
can beat each team in our group. If we do top our group, it holds
us in good stead to go all the way. The nation will be behind the
team and confidence will be sky high. Personally, I feel we
have trouble playing against the lesser teams as we get too
confident!
Dean Park, Chafford Hundred, Essex
If he takes Joe Cole, we'll do very well. The way Joe played
against Spurs recently was amazing. If he can play like that in the
England team alongside Beckham and Owen then we can do very
well!
Thom Woozley, Hastings
I think that England have a real chance of causing problems
to any team, although Argentina are going to be hard to beat.
I believe we can now put right some of the past injustices
inflicted by them. I don't think that the host nations should
be automatically seeded as it is
quite enough that they have been pushed so far as it is. Sweden
should be the easiest and Nigeria could prove to be a bit of
trouble.
James Moore, New Zealand
I was amazed to see how unlucky they were, even more so seeing
as last year they got a really bad draw as well. Although I
think England will triumph over the likes of Nigeria and Sweden,
who are two very good teams, I think that they will struggle
very much against Argentina, and I hope for David
Beckham's sake that he doesn't get sent off again, or he
will get a extremely hard time! Hopefully they can go on and be
heroes like in 1966!
Steven Turner, Grays, Essex
I still believe that we can do it. Maybe this will be this year we
will emerge as victors. The group stages will be the biggest
challange, Argentina the team who knocked us out last time round,
Sweden, Sven's home nation, and Nigeria, who are the
danger side in my eyes, because they are not that well known.
I still think that the new style England team can do it.
Chris Clough, West Yorkshire
It is plain to see that we have the worst group, which is typical,
but I still think that we can qualify, maybe in second place.
However, this would probably mean a second round game against
France, which I can't see us getting past. In summary, if we
are going to do well in Japan and Korea, then we have to do it
the hard way, and play the best football we have seen under Sven
since he arrived. A tall order!
Christopher Rice, Hornchurch
I believe it will be tough for Sven to get England to win this
group, even though he is a lucky manager. If only we'd got that
final seeded place. Argentina are the favourites for this
competition and a win would be excellent not only for our country
but for our standing within the tournament. C'mon England - get
Owen scoring those goals!
