Airidas Golambeckis represented West Ham United's Academy on the international stage once again this week, earning his sixth start and ninth cap for England U18s.
Liam Bramley’s Young Lions, who defeated Morocco 3-1 on Sunday, faced the Atlas Lions once more to conclude their season at the Complexe Mohammed VI de Football in Salé on Wednesday. Despite fielding a strong side, England were edged out 2-1 in the second and final fixture.
Golambeckis was one of six changes made by Bramley from the first match as Morocco took the lead early on, and although Trey Nyoni briefly levelled the score, the hosts restored their advantage on the stroke of half-time through a penalty from Troyes midfielder Noham Hamdaoua.
The Morocco camp rounds off a great first season as a scholar for Golambeckis. The 17-year-old has consistently played above his age group, both internationally and at Club level, featuring regularly for West Ham United U21s in Premier League 2 and the National League Cup. He also signed his first professional contract and played in every game as the U18s lifted the Premier League Cup for the first time in the Club’s history.
